The Outreach Team

  

The Outreach Team leads ministries devoted to serving others in need.

Meeting Date: Second Monday of each month @ 7 P.M.

Global Outreach:

  • Host annual CROP Walk sponsored by Church World Service each October
  • Sponsor Mission San Francisco Libre in Nigaragua -- Nan McCurdy - Global Mission Partner Church
  • Collected over 2000 pairs of shoes for distribution to Haiti following earthquake through Shoes to Share
  • Annual contributions to missions in Africa through Africa University, Congo Partnership, and Africa Aids Relief
  • Donated medicine boxes through United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR)
  • Provided support for mission of Amanda Levering in Nicaragua
  • Contributed to BorderLinks ministry to immigrants crossing Mexican border into U.S.

  

Regional/Local Outreach

  • Financial support to Newark Empowerment Center since established in 2007
  • Host winter Code Purple Sanctuary in rotation with four other churches
  • Coordinate volunteers fron NUMC membership to serve at the Newark Empowerment Center and Code Purple Sanctuary
  • Financial support for Hope Dining Room - located at Kingswood United Methodist Church
  • Underwrite the cost of meals served on first Friday of each month at Hope Dining Room, and meal is prepared/served by members of NUMC.
  • Five-year pledge support to Neighborhood House in Wilmington ($1,000 per year)
  • Completed five-year pledge to Habitat for Humanity one year early in 2009
  • Support the Methodist Action Program with annual contribution
  • Annual support of Newark Area Welfare
  • Annual support for Pacem in Terris
  • Annual donation to Quilts for Comfort

  

NUMC Outreach

  • Sponsor Angel Tree Project -- Christmas gifts for children of prison inmates
  • Donate to English as a Second Language program
  • Contribute to camperships for GREEN Team participants
  • Support summer Youth Mission trip
