Why Become a Member  

United Methodist Women is a national organization with nearly one-million members.  The United Methodist Women fosters spiritual growth, develops leaders, and advocates for justice. Members raise approximately $20 million a year for programs and projects related to women, children, and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.  Our local unit, the Newark United Methodist Women (NUMW), has also assisted many families locally by supporting:

  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Quilts for Comfort
  • Prison Fellowship
  • Cookie Pack for Prisoners
  • Emmaus House

What Members Do  

United Methodist Women is a community of women who nurture and encourage one another in their spiritual growth, personal leadership, and friendships.  Out of a commitment for mission locally and globally, NUMW choose to participate in meetings, prayer, action, Bible study, and by giving financially and/or by service.   Current fundraisers planned include pecan sales, Christmas cookie bake sale, and homemade soup and muffin sale.  

  

Our Purpose/Mission

The organized unit of UNITED METHODIST WOMEN shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is

  

  • to know God
  • to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ
  • to develop a creative, supportive fellowship
  • to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

  

Local Units Meeting Times  

Our local unit meets on the first Tuesday of each month (except July and August) at various times.

  

  • Dorcas and Eve Circles -- 10:30 a.m.
  • Lydia-Miriam Circle -- 12:30 p.m.
  • Faith-Rebekah -- 7:30 p.m.
