How many people attend the services?
Can I attend service if I am not Methodist? Absolutely. Whether you are visiting, looking for a church or simply want to stop in to see what we are about, we welcome anyone who wants to worship with us. Can I take Communion if I am not Methodist? Yes. The United Methodist Church practices open Communion at God’s table. We welcome all those who welcome Him into their hearts. “Christ our Lord invites to his table all those who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another.” Can young children take Communion? Yes. “All who intend to lead a Christian life, together with their children, are invited to receive the bread and cup.” (Book of Worship) Can I attend service but not take Communion? Yes. We do not want anyone to feel unwelcome because they do not choose to receive Communion. Simply remain seated when others go forward. Is childcare available during service? Yes. The nursery is open for the 9:30 am service and the 11 am services, year-round. When does NUMC offer Sunday school for children and youth? During the 9:30 am service throughout the school year and the new “Live B.I.G.” program during the 11 am service. In the summer months, church school is available for children through age 9. (link to Christian Education) How do I find out if service has been cancelled due to weather? WDEL.com and WSTW.com will both have information on cancellations due to weather. Is a contemporary service offered? The SonSpirit worship service offers an exciting, uplifting time of worship with a live band and a message. SonSpirit is held each Sunday at 11 a.m. in Heritage Hall. For more information, visit the SonSpirit page on our website. Are there adult Christian education groups? Yes. There are several different groups during the 9:30 am and the 11 am services on Sunday. During the week, there are several Bible study groups in the evenings and one in the morning. (transportation and broadcast info) Newark United Methodist Church has a live broadcast of the 9:30 a.m. service on WAMS, 1260 AM. If you would like to sponsor one of the broadcasts, please print the Radio Agreement Form and send it to the Church Office with the required fee. How do I place someone on the prayer list?
